    CD_CasterTerms_02CD_WheelTerms_01bEveryday Q&A

1: What will the the caster be used on?

2: What is the load height?

3: How many total casters will be used?

4: In total, how much weight will the casters be supporting?

5: What type of flooring will the casters be used on?

6: Do you need a braking option? If so, do you need one to prevent rolling or one to prevent swiveling and rolling?

7: Do you have any specifications or will your casters be exposed to any unusual conditions?

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How quickly will I receive my order? Are my casters in stock?

A: Most purchases are shipped within a few days because we have their parts in stock and we build most casters to order. If you need something sooner, communicate with us and we can make it happen.

Q: How do I know what type of wheel I need on my caster? They are so many options!

A: Talk to us! Floor conditions are an important factor in determining the proper caster. For example, on rougher floor settings, there is an increased likelihood of the load not being evenly distributed over all of the casters. Also, hardwood floors need a much different wheel than cement floor in order to prevent damage.

Q: How do I measure a threaded stem?

A: This can be challenging! First, you need to know if the stem is metric or US measure. The best way is to go to the hardware store and find a nut that fits the stem. The size of the nut will tell you the thread size of the stem. If you don’t feel like going out, grab some wrenches. When you find one that fits snugly on the stem, you’ve found your size.

Q: How do I determine the minimum load capacity needed for my caster?

A: Determine the total weight of the load. Divide by THREE. This resulting figure is the load capacity needed per caster. The division by three (NOT four!)  is important because only three points are needed to make a plane, and uneven floor surfaces frequently require three casters to carry the entire load.
