Application Requirements

This client was looking to use casters to provide a cushioned ride to an enormous homemade workbench across some uneven concrete flooring. Ensuring that the workbench stay put when needed was another requirement for the client.

Product Recommendation

Kristen recommended one of the most popular and reliable products in the market:  a Colson 4 Series caster using a 5" Performa wheel. With a hard polyolefin core and a soft (65 Shore A durometer) thermoplastic elastomer tread, the Colson Performa caster wheel provides durability, sturdiness, and smooth, quiet rolling.

Using six casters instead of the standard four casters, the load weight plus the weight of the workbench maxes out at massive 3,000 pounds. To render the bench stationary, a caster with a brake is bolted at each of the four corners of the load. This particular project used Colson Group's signature two-piece total lock brake, the Tech Lock. Tech Lock brakes can also be found on the rest of Colson 4 Series casters and Colson 2 Series stainless steel casters.
